Changing a wheel
Change a wheel when the tyre is flat or damaged. You will need to use the jack to raise the car, and typically you swap the flat wheel with the spare wheel.
- Apply the hand brake.
- Remove the hub cover of the wheel you want to change.
- Slacken the road wheel nuts on the wheel you want to change.
📝 Note: If the vehicle is on a hill, scotch one or even two of the road wheels. - Jack the car.
- Remove the wheel and replace with the new wheel.
- Replace the wheel nuts, ensuring that the tapered ends facd toward the wheel.
- Lower the jack.
- Fully tighten the wheel nuts in sequence 1, 3, 4, 2 (imagining them to be numbered 1 to 4 in rotation clockwise).
- Refit the hub cover.
